Internet outage for some, and for a while, on Monday, 11/6/2017

Internet outages were reported across the US on Monday, 11/06/17.  Reports began coming into sites like downdetector.com starting at roughly 1pm EDT and continuing until a bit after 4pm EDT.  Reports after 4pm EDT indicated the outage issues were identified and corrected.  Our LMS sites were at all times running smoothly, if you could access.  Two users sitting next to each other may have had different experiences with access to this and many major sites across the internet, based on the kind of outage that occurred.  This outage affected one of the major internet communication backbones.

Here are some articles that covered the incident:  Click on one/each to read details of the outage and resolution.

Director, Bill Ball shared a very enlightening article yesterday with staff from vox.com.  It’s an interesting look at the construction and history of the internet.  It also explains much of what some of yesterday’s activities and investigations realized when looking for answers to why the internet was acting up.

We know how important these services are and will continue as always to monitor and communicate regarding site access.

Learning management system was down for a few minutes – 9.11.17

This message is to inform you that we did have an issue with our Blended Learning LMS today.  The system was down from 10:20am Eastern to 10:29am Eastern.  We identified the root cause of the disturbance and enacted procedures going forward that will remove the possibility of a reoccurrence.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Please have a great rest of your week.

Temporary Solution for Password Reset Feature

TD/ATD/Instructor View
Student View

An odd look will appear along the left hand column of the LMS for Training Directors, Assistant Training Directors and Instructors, while we work to modify an LMS theme issue.  The issue revolves around the lack of a password changing feature for users — See Red Image on the right.  Access to the feature is now again available, but the settings ribbon is duplicated for the above mentioned user roles.   Students will only see the one ribbon so it will look correct — See Blue image on the Left.  Users will once again be able to manage their passwords as they previously could.  Thank you for your patience with the odd look for administration staff, it will be fully resolved as soon as possible.
