The electrical training ALLIANCE is proud to announce a partnership with Lynda.com. This partnership will result in the ability for the electrical training ALLIANCE to offer courses from Lynda’s vast library of more than 3000 courses. We are currently offering a pilot of this system with a PowerPoint course. This course includes specific information for you based on whatever version of the program you may be using on your computer. Simply enroll in the course and click the appropriate video based content depending on which version of PPT that you want to learn about (Once enrolled in the course you will notice that you can view content for many different versions of PowerPoint.) This course should be a great asset to any instructor who is currently teaching in the apprenticeship classroom. Lynda’s video based content allow users to view very specific and pertinent information in an easy to digest, segmented, video format. These courses are 100% asynchronous online courses; meaning that the student (Instructors, Training Directors, Apprentices, whomever you decide is a good candidate) can take them at any time and is not at all dependent on an instructor for anything.
“Will this be affordable to have all of your instructors participate in?”
The answer is yes, because we are dealing with a large volume of JATCs we are able to offer this course and others to come at the economical rate of $7 per student. (Note that for this particular style of course normal JATC instructors are charged on a per participant basis. But again this is only $7 and there is no session fee for this course.)
At this amazingly low price, this is an absolute no brainer! Who among us would not benefit from learning more about any of these programs? Sure we can function in the program but could we become more proficient in them? More productive?
The library of courses which will become available is vast, but our current plan is to pilot the PowerPoint course and then move onto the rest of the Microsoft Office Suite. The next courses available will include Excel, Word and Outlook. After the Microsoft suite we plan to offer a basic computer class and then move on to a wider category. We are also very open to your suggestions about what to offer next, the library is so large that we could go literally any direction. We hope to offer the classes that you will find most useful for your Instructors, your Apprentices as well for yourself. Please take a look at what Lynda (https://www.lynda.com) has to offer and let us know (mriesberg@electricaltrainingalliance.org) what you would be interested in taking.
