🤝 Navigating the Upcoming CML Software Update
I’d like to take this opportunity to follow up on the LMS notice regarding the upcoming update to the CML course modules. While these technical updates are a necessary part of maintaining a robust learning environment, I understand they can occasionally cause confusion for both you and your students. This update has been scheduled during what is a historically slow period of LMS activity to minimize the disruption, but I understand that it will potentially negatively impact certain students. This is the underlying reason for providing additional lead time for you and your students.
I want to inform you, the instructor, our first line of communication with the students, about why we do these updates and how you can best support your students through the process.

The “Why”: Value for Instructors and Students
On Monday, December 29th through Tuesday, December 30th, we will be replacing all learning modules across all CML courses. This isn’t just a maintenance task; it’s a critical upgrade required for a necessary software update.
    • What this means for you: This update ensures the long-term stability and compatibility of the module content. It prevents future technical glitches, meaning less troubleshooting and a smoother, more reliable experience for your students throughout the term. We’re essentially future-proofing the platform so you can focus on teaching, not technical support.
What Happens to Student Progress?
This is the key piece of information students will ask about, and it’s where we need your help to clarify the impact:
    • THE BAD NEWS (Internal Module Progress): The replacement process requires us to reset the progress recorded within the modules themselves. If a student started a module but did not finish it (i.e., they are “in the middle”), their progress for that specific module will be reset to “Not Attempted” and they will need to start back at the beginning of the module.
    • THE GOOD NEWS (Overall Course Progress): Crucially, the overall course progress—the checkmarks in the LMS lessons that track module completion—will NOT be impacted. This means no student loses their completed progress.
Your Communication Toolkit: What to Tell Your Students
To help you manage student inquiries efficiently, here is the clear, actionable information they need:
“All CML course modules are being updated from December 29th through December 30th. If you have started any modules but haven’t completed them, you must finish them entirely before December 29th. If you complete them, your overall course progress remains safe. If you don’t, you will have to re-do the unfinished module.”
Setting Expectations: The Timing and Action
We ask that you encourage students who are currently working on the CML modules to complete them fully before Monday, December 29th and not begin any new modules until after the update is complete. This is the only way for them to retain their progress within the module itself.
This proactive communication—delivered through the LMS notification and now reinforced by you—helps us manage the update smoothly and provides your students with a clear deadline and action item.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to maintain the best possible learning tools. If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the support team.
