The 2020-21 electrical training ALLIANCE curriculum continues to roll out some new and exciting resources. First, the ’20-21 Training Essentials catalog was released in April, and made available for download by logging into the member’s area of our site. The ’20-21 student Syllabi, and the Course Level and Credit Summary (CLCS) Catalog and Roadmap view worksheets are also available… well…in the CLCS. Now as we near the July 1 date for the ’20-21 content use, many courses have been made available.
Syllabi
The syllabi for all programs show the recommended curriculum path (Courses and Lessons) for each program and year. The courses mirror those listed in the 2020 Training Essentials catalog for each year and program respectively. If you are looking for the ability to customize a syllabus, you can do that by using the CLCS.
CLCS Catalog and Roadmap Worksheets
Catalog View Worksheets
The CLCS default views have now been updated to display the 2020-21 Catalog views. These views are made visible when first selecting the Program (Outside, Inside, Installer/Tech, Substation, or Residential). The sheet selection button allows catalogs from previous years to still be viewable. However, the Catalog view is designed to support the training program perspective—you can teach the same course to multiple years of apprenticeship during a particular year. This is not the sheet that you would use to create verification that any customization of the curriculum delivery is meeting the minimum requirements to complete the specified program’s apprenticeship. You would also not sum up all years together, for catalog views allow the same course to be displayed in multiple years because it may need to be taught to multiple years of apprenticeship, during the same school year.
For information on the lesson outlines and course descriptions, utilize the CLSC and the 2020-21 Training Essentials Catalog. In the CLCS, click on the course name to view the full description of the course.
Roadmap View Worksheets
The Roadmap view, as we call it, is designed to support a vision of what courses an apprentice, or a group of apprentices, would need to complete on their “road” from the beginning of, to the completion of, their apprenticeship. This view summarizes all of the appropriate credits for Inside, I/T, and Residential, and maintains prerequisite support information, etc. The April 22, 2020 blog has the instructions for how to access the Roadmap view to plan the curriculum for the new incoming apprentices. If you need help with any CLCS functionality, be sure to check out the CLCS User’s Guide.
