We are many times asked the question, “How much internet bandwidth do I need in my training center?” To this you usually hear one of our directors respond:
How do you intend to use the Blended Learning System?
- Will it only be used for instructors?
- Will students be working in the system at School?
- Will they be doing online animations, or just homework?
- How about Simulator use and which ones?
- What is the best use of the limited time that you have with the Apprentices?
- How many students will you have in the building at any one time?
- Have you thought about segmenting your office network from the one used by students?
One of us, may have gone into a long winded discussion/explanation of concurrent users and how this matters……
The bottom line is that you wanted a short answer to a short question, and we did not really give you very many specifics. This has happened because there are so many variable factors. So what are you supposed to do? Take a guess and either get too little bandwidth and wait until you hear complaints, or shoot for the stars and risk overpaying for very expensive bandwidth. We have recently come across a resource that may be helpful for you.

Take a look at this website and explore the tool while changing some of the settings until you feel that you have a better idea where you should be at in terms of internet bandwidth.
Although this does not give you any definitive answer it may prove to be a helpful resource.
